about
I’ve always counted The Ozark Mountain Daredevils’, 1973 self-titled, first release on A&M Records as a favorite. Some fans have come to know it as the “Quilt” album. The album is a lesson in great writing, spirited playing, soulful singing and at times sheer fun. I wanted to cover a track from the album and the soaring “Spaceship Orion” seemed like an obvious choice to me.
lyrics
When the man comes to you
Tells you what you always knew was comin'
You feel it came twice as fast
You always thought the world would last way past you
But now you find it's time
There's no one (*) left around you
Spaceship Orion's there
Waiting to part the air above you
Waiting to take you
Waiting to place you
In a world exactly different
From the one you leave behind
If you find it man you're lucky
But it still won't be the same
It can't be like home
It can't feel like home
To you there
It can't be like home
It can't feel like home
To you there
It can't be like home
It can't feel like home
To you there

The drummer, composer, and producer blends his “organic beat music” with original compositions and luscious orchestral arrangements that recall the symphonic soul of the 1970s. Bandcamp Album of the Day Sep 22, 2022
